Practical Cycle Training Programme - Primary Schools

Year 3 Cycle Skills / Year 5 Safer Cycling

Practical cycle training is as far as possible delivered to primary schools on a two-year rota, so each primary school will be offered training every other school year. Ultimately we would like to train at each school every year, but funding does not allow us to do this at the present time.

Each June we will contact all schools who are eligible for training in the next school year to get an estimate of demand. Once this data is collected we will arrange dates with individual schools, prioritising schools who are undertaking Travel Plans and Safer Routes projects. Schools can opt not to host a training course.

When possible a summer scheme will be run open to any pupils in Year 5 who have not had the chance to take part in Safer Cycling in the previous school year.
