Sample Teaching
Units
The new National Curriculum for teaching from September 2008 is a marvellous
opportunity to refresh, through out the old, and bring in new schemes at
KS3. You do not need to bring in whole scale change to KS3, but you should
be looking at your Y7 SOW meeting the new POS. The old SNS Sample Teaching
Units have by now been widely adopted then adapted, but some of them are six
years old now. It is worth remembering that within the Sample Teaching Units
ther remain some good examples of

ICT National Strategy Training dates
The majority of CPD will be negotiated and delivered in
school. Events at Saltwells are of three types: Subject Leader
Development Meetings, ICT Co-Ordinator Meetings and the DiDA Death Working
Group Meetings. All are by invitation and schools will be notified as to
when these will occur.

Those
in italics are new courses I havent had details of them yet from
the DfES
All courses are for one day only. Where two dates are shown, these are simply
opportunities for schools to attend either day. The venue for all of the courses above
will be Saltwells EDC
The focus of the National Strategy is on teaching and learning, rather than IT
technical issues. Individualised, supportive, specific training is also offered to
schools, either during the day or as twi-lights. These cover the STUs not listed
above, and issues such as moderation, curriculum mapping, reviewing departmental action
plans, supporting new and non-specialist staff, team teaching, department
health-checks, planning, observations. These dates are agreed mutually. |
