Objectives for this unit • To understand the progression from the Year 8 sample teaching units to the requirements for Year 9 • To become familiar with the teaching objectives for Year 9 • To consider the lesson planning requirements for teaching the Year 9 ICT objectives • To consider the possible actions needed for teaching Year 9 ICT in schoolThe five sessions in the unit are:
General introduction An introduction to the third year of the Key Stage 3 Strategy 30 minutes
Introduction - Next steps with Key Stage 3 Strategy
Session 1 Issues and challenges for ICT teaching 75 minutes
Session 2 Identifying opportunities for differentiated outcomes 75 minutes
Session 3 Planning for extended pieces of work 105 minutes
Session 4 Planning to teach the Year 9 ICT Framework objectives 75 minutes
Sessions 1 - 4 use Units 8.5 and the Y9 Sample Case Studies - these are available from me (or the DfES website) and it is useful if you have had chance to look at the materials before the training day.
