OLD BANK LLOYDS BANK - 1900
This photograph was taken about 1876. The figure in the open top carriage is the bank manager George Wilkinson and he is sitting next to a lady companion. As the shadow of the tree is coming from the east and is low it must be early morning. There are also no other people in the street which tends to support this. A trade directory of that date tells us the Old Bank is part of the Lloyds Group. The architecture of the building is 18th century, commonly known as Georgian and looks as if it was erected for several concerns, perhaps as dwelling houses and also looks as if it has been extended. The photograph above was taken in 1900, by the look of it in the morning. As can be seen here the 18th century building has been demolished and a new late 19th structure with bay windows put in its place. The growing feeling that banks are stable places where people can place their money in safely is very obvious. The structure has a medieval feel and has been solidly built.

LLOYDS BANK
This structure was built in the 20th century and is of a company style. The architecture is in giant proportions, which is appropriate for such a large banking company  It still looks safe and secure but is much more decorative. The building at the side has been demolished separately and a has a much later post-war look. The photograph was again taken in the morning. This photograph was taken in 2007. Lloyds Banking Company left the building in the early 21st century and it is possible that the structure is now up for a change of use.
