The DfES
The DfES has a huge website with a great deal of guidance on teaching gifted
and talented children. The site provides guidance on definition, guidance, managing
provision, and specific subject guidance on all national curriculum subjects and also
religious education.

Excellence in Cities (EiC)

World class tests
These are new world classtests for bright 9 and 13 year olds. The tests are
in maths and problem solving and are being taken by children in England, US, New Zealand,
Hong Kong and Australia. In time it is hoped that up to 10% of all children will
take them.

The National Association for Able Children
in Education (NACE)
A registered charity, NACE is primarily a teacher- and adviser-based organisation
concerned with providing for the top 20% of children within maintained schools. It
produces a variety of publications, a newsletter for members and the journal Flying
High. NACE organises regional conferences and an annual national residential

The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC)

The Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth
The National Academy is based at Warwick University. They ran their
first residential Summer School in July 2002. They are aiming to attract the
top 5% of academically gifted students. We are hoping that exceptional students in
Dudley will get involved in the Academy's Talent Search and try and gain a place on future
Summer Schools.
